The Healthy Meal Recipe – Benefits of Eating Healthy.

“A healthy outside starts from the inside”.

I definitely agree that clean eating is indeed essential to our health. It is a good thing there are now a lot of people being health advocates. I know it is hard to switch on eating healthy stuff. It’s hard to say good bye to those chips, french fries, soda, pop corn, pizza, burgers and the list goes on. Wait! have you noticed why do these considered junk foods taste so darn good! and eventually make us feel good too.

Proper eating habits is important aside from exercising regularly. Maybe in your mind you’re asking “So what does eating healthy really means?”, “What are those foods considered as healthy?” “What re the benefits of eating healthy?” -According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, a healthy diet should consist of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, low-fat dairy products and lean meats. On top of eating well, you must also minimize your consumption of cholesterol, sodium, sugar and saturated fat. The food you eat can affect your health and your risk for certain diseases. If you are really decided on eating healthier foods, you may need to change some of your daily habits. You don’t need to make huge changes to eat healthier.

On this post, I’ll share to you how I make my own healthy meal, switching to healthy foods is not that easy I know that but with discipline, goal and proper mind set everything will be easy. Everything can be learned in time, it’s for your own good.

The Summer Salad 

Ingredients:

  • 1-2 medium size ripe mangoes
  • 1 medium size ripe avocados
  • 2-3 tomatoes (cherry tomatoes will be a good substitute)
  • lettuce (any type of lettuce will do)
  • white onions and grated cheese (optional)

For the dressing, I have default recipe that is so simple to make, you will just need the following and mix it thoroughly

  • 2-3 tables spoon of extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 table spoon of organic apple cider vinegar
  • 3 table spoon of organic honey
  • salt and pepper to taste

Just toss all the ingredients on a large bowl. Each vegetable slices should be in bite sizes just similar to my previous salad recipe post, remember that the more dense vegetables may need to be cut thinner so as to allow the flavors to penetrate and soften the product. Top it off with some grated cheese and enjoy!

Egg Sandwhich with a twist

Put some twist on your usual egg sandwich and turn it to a healthy version.

You will need:

  • Wheat bread
  • Fried egg
  • slice organic tomatoes
  • lettuce (any type of lettuce will do)
  • grated cheese (optional)
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • Avocado and white onion (optional)

Toast the wheat bread first , place the lettuce first followed by the egg and tomatoes season it with salt and pepper.  You have the options to put some avocados and white onions (according to your preference) and then finish it off with some grated cheese.
